I've been thinking about taking my incredibly floofy tuxedo cat on a leash walk, or seeing how he'd manage! My sensitive girl kitty wouldn't love it, I don't think, but this boy is so unfazed and so curious I think he might handle it well like your kitty! You're inspiring me to try.

And well done on the writing!! Onward!

Thank you! Hoping to keep trucking...

Floof keeps trying to escape her harness, which is easy to do because of all that Floof. I'll let you know once I perfect cat walking.... :-)

You've had quite a week! I am curious about HESTL EdCON and would like to know who to get in touch with for next year or is it by invitation only. I thought I had signed up for the Lyons Library event yesterday but somehow missed out. Thanks again for your library request this week which was a big highlight for me!!

You're so welcome! I found out about the HESTL EdCon through our SCBWI PAL newsletter, so it will likely be announced again one they start organizing. If I see it pop up, I'll let you know!

Thanks! I seem to have missed a few things recently. There's so much information coming in from different places all the time that it's hard to follow up on everything.

The kittens & Floof are adorable. We have two cats who provide endless adventures. As far as writing goes it’s difficult to get back into the headspace of writing when I’m promoting a just released novel.

I’m interested in how you return to that space and how you make placeholders while you’re writing. Any suggestions? Or maybe a post on how to do this without a software program like Scrivener?

I mostly put my placeholders in the manuscript as XX (like if I forget a name), or I'll put a note in in all-caps, like I NEED A GOOD METAPHOR HERE or THIS WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE FOR A CLUE. I've yet to get into Scrivener... I'm just too lazy to figure out how to use it :-)

Returning to the headspace can be hard, though getting into the every day writing habit does help your brain get into writing mode. Knowing what scene I want to write next really helps. If I'm not sure what scene I want next but know which one is further into the manuscript, I sometimes write out of order. I hope that helps! Getting into writing mode is the biggest hurdle most days...

Im too lazy to figure S out too! I’m going to try to use the capitalization and maybe a different font or color for placeholders. Thanks for the tip!
