Fleur Bradley Nov/Dec author newsletter

It's November!
I know, you didn't really need me to tell you that... But for me, this year has been a string of, Whoa it's (insert month it is)! and Whoa, it's 2022! Imagine the scare I have coming in January...
In all seriousness, it has been a busy, strange year. Adapting to a post-Covid-but-sometimes-not-quite world, a new book, plus lots more speaking events... I'm going to give myself a break on being overwhelmed. I hope you do the same. We all need to be kinder to ourselves.
In that vein, you are getting a combined November/ December newsletter today. If you think about it, I'm saving you extra emails.

What I'm Up To
November has me busy with virtual visits, website updates, and the last Daybreak on Raven Island events. I just finished a fun celebration of books by fellow SCBWI friends, along with Second Star to the Right, this Saturday as part of SCBWI's Bookbirthday Bash. We were celebrating all the amazing books by our Rocky Mountain Chapter's authors. You can see my picture book friends in the photo above. It was a fun event that reminded me once again how very lucky I am to be surrounded by friends who support me.
New Website!
It was time to update my website to reflect my recent accomplishment, books, and generally look a little more spiffy. Check it out here!
New for Educators!
If you are a teacher or librarian and you've thought about inviting me for a (virtual) author visits but just don't have the time or budget, I now have a recording of my author visit on my website. You can find out more on my author visits page here. This way, you can have your students enjoy my talk on how a book goes from idea to printed book anytime that's convenient, for free.
And I'm always happy to mail signed bookplates and/or bookmarks for your kids, whether you're a teacher, librarian, parent.

What I'm Writing
Meanwhile, I've been writing and editing up a storm. To get ahead on some of my works-in-process, I started getting up at 5 AM to write. I love this time, because the world isn't quite awake yet, so it feels like a more quiet time to work.
As you can see, I have my assistant old lady dog Betty White, here to point out the plot holes in my manuscript...
I'm working on both a MG and a YA; I hope to have more news to share on those soon...

Where I'm Going
November and December are such good times to reflect on what's good in life. I have so much to be thankful for, one of many things being you, dear newsletter reader! Thank you for tuning in periodically and celebrating my accomplishments with me. Send me an email and let me know yours!
In a few weeks, I'll be flying to sunny Florida, to accept the Sunshine State Young Reader Award that Florida Media Professionals awarded to Midnight at the Barclay Hotel. I can't wait to meet these amazing librarians in person!
If you'll be there, say hi. I'll try to remember to take pictures...

Holiday Giveaway
As we look to the holiday season, I hope you'll consider giving books if you have a (kid) reader on your list. I have a special Raven Island map, plus signed bookplate, bookmark, and sticker that I'm happy to mail for free. Just shoot me a line with your mailing address at fleurbradley25 (at) gmail (dot) com!
I have a similar packet for Midnight at the Barclay Hotel as well, so don't be shy... I love sending out bookplates and bookmarks
Fleur is a Book Fairy
I'm very behind (aren't we all?) on reading the amazing books that have come out this year, so I'll spend the last weeks of the year reading and reviewing. If you are in the same boat, consider doing the same! The author will be so thankful, and it costs $0. I love leaving reviews; it makes me feel like a book fairy...
If you have read Daybreak on Raven Island, I would love a review on Amazon, Goodreads, etc.! That book is still trying to learn how to walk (so to speak) so it needs all the cheering on to make it soar. Just a quick line (like, 'Great mystery for kids!') does the trick. Here is the link to Daybreak on Raven Island on Amazon, if you want to get your book fairy wings too.
See you in 2023!
I hope 2022 has been kind to you, and that 2023 brings new hope and great plans. Thank you for sharing your time with me.
Now, I'm off to read a good book... Floof is looking for a lap.
